1. Introduction
AaharAI ("App," "we," "us," "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use and protect it, and your rights. By using the App you agree to this policy. If you disagree, please uninstall the App.
This App is designed primarily for users in India. If you access the App from outside India, you do so voluntarily and are responsible for compliance with your local laws. We make no representation that the App is appropriate or available for use in other locations.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Data you provide:
- Basic profile: name, age, gender, weight, dietary preference
- Health profile: medical conditions, medications, allergies, fasting practice
- Optional: email address (used only to pre-fill health report exports)
- Food journal entries, meal times, water intake
- Health diary entries: blood pressure readings, glucose levels, weight logs, medications taken
2.2 Data we do NOT collect:
- Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or IP addresses
- Location data (GPS or network-based)
- Crash analytics or usage telemetry
- Behavioural tracking or session recordings
- Payment information (the App is free)
We do not operate any server that stores your personal data. There is no account system.
3. How We Use Your Information
3.1 On-device features: Your profile, journal, health diary, water logs, and pantry data are processed and stored exclusively on your device using local storage. They are never transmitted to our servers.
3.2 AI food ratings: When you request a food rating or photo scan, your health profile (conditions, medications, allergies, dietary type) is included in an API request sent to Anthropic, PBC to generate a personalised rating. This is the only occasion on which your health data leaves your device.
3.3 No other transmission: We do not send your data to any analytics platform, advertising network, data broker, or other third party.
4. Third-Party AI Processing (Anthropic)
Food ratings and photo identification are powered by Anthropic's Claude AI. When you use these features, your health profile is included in the API request to Anthropic's servers. According to Anthropic's API usage policy, API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models by default. For full details review Anthropic's Privacy Policy at anthropic.com/privacy.
We are not responsible for Anthropic's data practices. If you are not comfortable with your health profile being sent to Anthropic, do not use the food rating or photo scan features. All other features โ water logging, health diary, pantry, journal browsing โ work fully offline without any data leaving your device.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on your device using local storage. We implement reasonable technical measures to protect your information. However, no storage system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security against all threats.
You are responsible for maintaining the physical security of your device. We recommend keeping your device locked with a PIN or biometric authentication, and regularly exporting your health data as a backup.
6. Sensitive Health Data
The App collects and processes sensitive health information including medical conditions, medications, blood pressure, glucose levels, and weight. This data is:
- Stored on your device only
- Sent to Anthropic only when you actively request a food rating
- Never sold, licensed, or disclosed to any other party
- Never used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than operating the App's features for your personal benefit
7. Children's Privacy
This App is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used this App and provided personal data, contact us at contact.aaharai@gmail.com and we will provide guidance on removing data from the device.
8. Your Rights and Controls
You may at any time:

Since all data is stored locally on your device, uninstalling the App permanently erases all associated data. We hold no copies.
9. Data Retention
All data persists on your device until you delete it (via Reset App Data) or uninstall the App. We do not retain any copies on external servers because we do not maintain servers that store personal data.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
11. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA), the Information Technology Act, 2000, and applicable rules thereunder.
